Meet Emily Cook, creator of Elu Cook Designs. Emily creates beautiful works of art ranging from home decor and jewelry, to unique custom pieces. She has developed a technique to incorporate sand from various beaches into her work to create unique, one of a kind pieces.

Each piece is created with fused glass using a kiln in Emily’s Mount Pleasant, South Carolina studio. The fusing process typically involves at least two rounds of firings at temperatures of up to 1500 degrees. In between firings, the glass is often ground or sandblasted to give the desired finish.  She often combines glass with different materials such as concrete or wood.

One particularly beautiful and functional piece Emily creates, is a bottle opener. Crack a cold one on the boat, beach, or at the house with this unique wood and glass bottle opener. The glass in the inlay is fused with sand from our local beaches in South Carolina. The glass is layered with sand and kiln-fired to make a gorgeous, one-of-a-kind piece. A portion of the profits from these bottle openers is donated to the Surfrider Foundation to protect our beaches and oceans.
