Why You'll Love It

After last year’s collab with our friends at Trout Unlimited sold out in less than 24 hours, we knew we had to run it back. We’re proud to introduce the second annual Free Fly x Trout Unlimited collab—a limited-edition drop built to celebrate coldwater fisheries and the people working hard to protect them.

This year’s collab features original Cutthroat Trout artwork by Ed Anderson, Creative Director and artist at Drift West. Inspired by waterways surrounding his Idaho studio, Ed’s artwork brings one of the American West’s most iconic fish species to life on our UPF 50+ Bamboo Shade Hoodie—our go-to layer for long summer days on the water.

Customers Say

Customers say this sun hoodie is incredibly soft and lightweight, keeping them comfortable during outdoor activities in hot weather. Many praise its breathable bamboo fabric for staying cool while providing sun coverage, with quick-drying properties ideal for water sports and hiking. The relaxed fit works well for most, though some note it runs oversized in the torso and chest. Common feedback highlights the versatile design perfect for layering, fishing, biking, and beach days. Most customers appreciate the print details and color options, with many becoming repeat purchasers. A few mention wishing for additional color choices and note the hood could provide more face coverage.

My favorite sleep shirt
I’ve ordered three of these shirts in a size larger than my regular size so I can sleep in them. I love the softness. I started with one but found myself not wanting to sleep in anything else. It’s so good you need at least three :-)

Ultimate Sun Hoodie
I own these in almost every color they offer. They're light weight and perfect for hot sweltering summer days and cool mornings. Butter soft, wash and dry well.

Cute and functional
Nice as a sun shirt and as an additional layer on cool mornings. Perfect by the lake or when on the water.

Women's Bamboo Shade Hoodie II - Tropic Sea Tropic Sea / XL
I wanted to love it, but...
I tried on a BUNCH of sun shade shirts at REI in my quest to find something that would protect me from the sun while hiking. I happily ordered this shade hoodie after trying a different color on in store, and I was thrilled when it arrived - so soft! So light! So easy to wear! Didn't get stinky immediately! I've only worn it a handful of times, and it's already pilling in the places where my daypack sits, and some other spots as well. It also seems to acquire stains if it just brushes up against something. There might be situations where this hoodie would be perfect, but for the price, I'm really disappointed. I knew I was taking a risk with stains by ordering a light color, but the pilling makes me really sad.
