Women's Driftlight Short

I bought a pair of these shorts from REI on a whim and absolutely LOVED them--so much so that I came back to the Free Fly site to buy another color. They are fantastic for hot and humid weather here in the northeast. I've worn them hiking, doing yardwork, and just out and about, and I love them!

These shorts are the lightest, most breathable shorts I've ever owned. I bought them in two colors and love them both. They are so soft and quick dry. I wear them golfing, hiking, rafting... you name it and they're perfect for every activity. I'd recommend these to anyone. The "hidden zipper" pocket is also awesome for storing your phone. It doesn't fall out of your pocket or dangle below the shorts from the weight of the phone. With the size of phones today, it's hard to not look like you have a brick in your pocket but these shorts pull it off. I love them!!

These are lovely shorts. I like that that have recycled fabric and the fit and feel is great. The pockets leave something to be desired though. Because the material is so light and the pockets land more on the front of the body, anything in your pocket, phone, keys, wallet, REALLY is bulky and uncomfortable, both in look and feel. The fabric is so light, it almost feels like nothing at all (love!). I feel like changing the design slightly to have almost a side pocket like leggings do, but making it internal like a front pocket instead of external like a legging, would really elevate these shorts. Also, sometimes the pocket sticks out when sitting down which isn’t a good look. I do like that there’s a zippered pocket though!

As far as the fit, they are cute and accentuate the good and don’t draw attention to belly pooch or anything. Waistband is super comfortable, no rolling, no digging, just perfect. Drawstring stays tied. Drapes very flatteringly on butt, hips and thighs.

Overall, the look, comfort, ecofriendliness and SPF outweigh the design issues and I would recommend them. Wish they were a five star short though!
