Eli Iorg
Fly Fisherman, Creator
Wyoming
Eli Iorg has amassed a bit of a cult following, using his much-loved account @fly__high_eli to share his experience as a dad and angler—teaching his kids about life on the water and the ins and outs of fly fishing. It all started out as a personal project after a serious injury derailed his baseball career. He played outfield at Tennessee and went on to play in the MLB for the Houston Astros—but his injury resulted in an early retirement from the sport. He found solace in the outdoors and moved his family West, where his kids, Axel and Isla, could explore and get to know the world through nature. He began documenting it, and found community in sharing his experiences with others. “I got into fly fishing many years ago. It taught me so many valuable lessons. As a father, I wanted my children to learn these lessons at a young age. What started out as videos just for us, became something else.” Today, Eli and his family are based in Wyoming, where they spend as much time on the water as possible. “I love the time I get to spend in nature with my family and we hope to inspire others to do the same.”
Escape to the Backcountry
Eli took his family deep into the Everglades for a bucket-list fly fishing trip—where they chased down snook and tarpon with 7-year-old Axel and 9-year-old Isla leading the charge.
