When you think of surfing, South Carolina isn’t necessarily the first place that comes to mind—which is what makes Cam Richards’ story so unique.

Born and raised in Garden City Beach, SC, Cam has been surfing for as long as he can remember. He was practically born into it—introduced to the sport by his father, the owner of Village Surf Shoppe, a locally loved hub known for its legendary handmade “Perfection Surfboards.” Cam started competing around age 10 and turned pro by the time he was 11, solidifying his passion for the craft. Fast forward to today: after multiple East Coast and national amateur titles, World Qualifying Series titles, perfect 10s at Pipeline, and STAB High standout moments, he’s become a household name in the global surf industry.

Outside of surfing, Cam is a highly skilled angler who can hold his own with our crew of guides and pros. His knowledge of the Lowcountry and tailing reds is second to none…we don’t know where he finds the time or energy.

They say if you do what you love for a living, you’ll never work a day in your life—and that couldn’t be more true. The places I’ve seen and the people I’ve met along the way have made me who I am today.
