As a brand that’s centered around family, we do a lot together. And of everything we do together, getting involved in our community and giving back might be our favorite. By focusing on three initiatives – conservation, humanitarian, and next gen – we donate time and resources to inspiring partners that help bring a positive impact to the people and places that need it most.
1. Conservation
Being lovers of the outdoors, the Conservation committee helps to preserve our local waterways and ecosystem through deep community partnerships and company-led initiatives. From recycling oysters for reef building to tagging fish for research, we’re working to benefit our community as a whole. This year, we’re supporting Charleston Waterkeeper, a local nonprofit that is committed to the protection and restoration of Charleston’s waterways for generations to come. Working alongside Charleston Waterkeeper and the Department of Natural Resources, we had the amazing opportunity to plant Spartina grass, a vital part of the ecosystem, in empty areas of pluff mud where the marsh had eroded. Over time these plants will take root and establish themselves, providing a habitat for many different species and also mitigating storm surges and flooding as a natural barrier. Find out how you can get involved and give back to keep our waters clean.
2. Humanitarian
The Humanitarian Committee supports humanitarian efforts both at home and abroad by offering our time and assets to local organizations dedicated to helping those in need. Throughout 2022, we’ve worked to provide food to underserved communities, donated high-need apparel items to both local and international partners, and supported Hurricane Ian disaster relief efforts. We’ve also continued to grow our relationship with Water Mission, a faith-based engineering nonprofit that builds safe water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions in developing countries and disaster areas around the globe. As a team, we took part in Water Mission International's annual walk for water, which raised awareness and funds to fight the global water crisis. Visit their website to learn more and donate to help change the lives of the 2.2 billion people who lack access to safe, drinkable water.
3. Next Gen
Our Next Gen committee works to provide opportunities for kids to experience all that the outdoors have to offer. Throughout the year, we partner with multiple local organizations to give children and teens the hands-on learning and resources they need to take advantage of the beauty in their own backyards. This Giving Tuesday, we’re highlighting Going Places, a nonprofit near and dear to us, with a mission to bring joy to underprivileged children. Through this partnership, our team helped to build and reveal over 500 bicycles to unsuspecting grade school students – a cheerful and rewarding experience to say the least!
